Document factory > data spooler

The nPortal data spooler provides a central repository for incoming files and forwards data to an appropriate downstream process using a rule-based system.

The rules can vary in complexity from simply sending data from a particular source to a target printer, to a rule that submits the data to series of processing applets.

This provides a mechanism for unattended batch processing using the full suite of RedTitan transform programs. For example:

  • PCL to PDF, TIFF, XML and PNG
  • Metacode to PCL and Postscript
  • Dynamic document formatting

It is a simple task to add new programs to the spooler to perform specialised tasks such as data recognition, code conversion and sorts.

The spooler accepts data from remote TCP/IP LPR, NFS, FTP and integrates with NT print queues. Output can be sent using LPR, TELNET or MIME encoded via email SMTP. Fax output can be sent using MAPI.
